Many vintage film cameras and exposure meters rely on the constant voltage output from the mercury cell (1.35V). Due to environmental considerations, mercury cells have been banned since the late 1980s. Due to the voltage and battery behaviour differences, when using an alkaline battery on those cameras, it produces an incorrect reading. By using our adapter with the provided zinc-air battery, you can replace the mercury battery and obtain a correct meter reading.
